Golden Plum + Marigold Wine

Tasting Notes

An intense orange colour (thank you marigolds) that is beautifully clear.  Smells a little oxidised at first, then apricot fruit leather (the real stuff, like Annie's fruit jerky).  And oh the taste!  Think I have a new favourite... it's tart but sweet with crunchy acidity.  Think juicy ripe apricots, zesty orange peel and black pepper.  

Best served at room temperature, (but if you think it's too sweet, go ahead and chill it)

Winemaking Notes

The plums are from our own marvellous golden plum tree, harvested early 2024 (recently this tree lost major branches due to old age, so this is the second to last batch of this wine, until it recovers or I find another tree).

Marigolds came from our (organic) garden too; the petals were plucked and added to the plums with sugar, and macerated for three days.  Sieved, rinsed, adjusted, yeast pitched and fermented in glass demijons.  Nice quick ferment, left in bulk for three months, then bottled and aged for a further 10 months.
