  • Eket'where???

    Eketāhuna is a small rural town in the Tararua district, smack inbetween two famous NZ wine regions; Wairarapa + Hawkes Bay.

    With the Tararua Ranges as a backdrop and many beautiful rivers + bush, Eketāhuna is a treasure of a place known mythically as the Timbuktu of Aotearoa.

    We hope that our wines will be a catalyst to change how people will think of fruit wine (not super sweet and pretty damn fine!).

  • Plum Tree Cottage

    Plum Tree Cottage

    Plum Tree Cottage (our family home) built in 1905, is host to ancient heirloom plum + pear trees, elder, apples, currants, feijoas, walnuts, figs, berries and many herbs.

    It's also in vicinity of great foraging spots for blackberries, hawthorns, lemon and grapefruit...(OK, the last two are friends backyards!)

Not Just a Bottle of Wine ~

Planet Earth is in a precarious situation and it is more important than ever to look at our footprint and ensure that 'what' and 'how' we produce has minimal negative impact to our environment.

Here at Catalyst Fruit Wines this is top and foremost in our mind and part of our kaupapa (purpose). All bottles are recyclable (you can even return them if you want and they'll get re-used). Fruit is organic and sourced locally. Wine product waste is composted. No animal products are used. And we're always planting trees~ there's no monoculture here!
