Golden Plum, Passionfruit + Grapefruit Wine

Tasting Notes

A clear pale yellow wine that smells like unripe bananas, crashing ocean waves and a hint of passionfruit.

Tastes like sweet nectar on the tongue that goes down super smooth, but there's an adult-y bitter bite that keeps it serious (thank you grapefruit).

If you're a sauvignon blanc fan, I dare say you'll be all over this one!

Winemaking Notes

The golden plums came from our grand old plum tree of course, the grapefruit from a massive tree in the backyard of a friend of a friend's backyard in Dannevirke and the passionfruit from my miracle vine here in Eketāhuna.

They were all fermented together in August 2025 and was quick off the mark considering it was winter, and had completed fermentation in October.  The wine required backsweetening for the fruits to come forward, then it was bulk aged for a couple of months in a gloriously large glass carboy.  Bottled in December.

This is a wine best enjoyed young, though the grapefruit within the wine will give it another couple of years of maturation.
