Kiwifruit + Elderflower Sparkling Wine

Tasting Notes

A clear golden wine with fine beads, smells like honeysuckle on a cool breeze.  On tasting, it's sweet but refreshing, a little bit of lemon pith - or is that kiwifruit skin? A definite elderflower presence with honey sweetness and almost a raw vanilla undertone.  All nicely cut with a fine sparkle.

Perfect for a pre-lunch drink!

Winemaking Notes

This wine is a blend of two wines.  The kiwifruit wine was made in May 2024, using gold red and green kiwifruit from a Motueka orchard.  The flesh was all tediously scooped out of their skins then macerated in suga.  Three days later, a touch of orange, spring water and champagne yeast was added.  Nine months down the track and it was blended with an elderflower wine made in November 2024.  Bottling the wine in March 2025, before the wines had completed their fermentation means we capture a natural sparkle in the bottle and a lovely residual sweetness.
