Plum Boy ~ 2024/2025
Plum + Boysenberry Wine
Tasting Notes
A lovely bright red with nice legs. Smells like marzipan, roasted berries and leather, and ooh wee, it is nice and dry with some punchy acidity. Leave it in the glass for at least 10 minutes and you'll start smelling and tasting the boysenberries come to the fore and then, well, it's the beginning of the end for that glass!
If you're so inclined, this wine makes a smashing negroni (in place of the vermouth), find the recipe here
Winemaking Notes
The plums come from our mighty tree affectionately known as Sweeping Bleeding, the variety is unknown but the plums are red on the inside and outside. Unfortunately I'm unable to grow the boysenberries in the quantities that I need, so they come from Nelson, boysenberry mecca!
This is a blend of 2024 and 2025 due to 2024 taking its sweet arse time to complete it's fermentation and some long story complications; which meant I held it back until 2025 was complete (made in January '25, finished March '25) and blended the two. Bottled in August, released April 2026
